Playing the Podcast from the Website

One of the easiest ways to listen to The Year That Was is to play it directly from this website. If you click on "Episodes" from the menu at the top right of the page, you'll see a list of all of the public episodes. Just click on the one you want to hear. You'll see the bright orange logo and, directly below the logo, a black bar. There's a little arrow in the corner of the bar. Push that button and you're in business.

Playing the Podcast through a Podcast App

Many people find listening through a podcast app on their smartphones a lot more convenient--you can subscribe, so that you automatically receive every new episode as soon as it's published, and you can listen anywhere.

First, you'll need a podcast app. There are a bajillion of them, but don't let that overwhelm you. Most of them work really well and are easy to use.

If you're on an Apple iPhone, the most common app is Apple Podcasts. If you're using Apple Podcasts, good news! Just click on the button above that says "Apple Podcasts." It will take you directly to the podcast page, and you just have to hit subscribe.

If you're using an Android device, or another app on an iPhone, first see if there's one of those magic buttons for your app. If so, click on it and you're set. Just remember to hit subscribe when you get to the app.

If there's not a magic button, do not despair. First, try searching for "The Year That Was" in your app. It should come up. I'm trying to make sure the podcast is available as many places as possible. But, if it doesn't, you are still not out of luck. Just copy the URL above (the one in blue letters) and paste it into the search bar of your app.
